Buying a new home, better keep an eye on your credit card debt

Getting ready to buy your first home? Then make sure you are prepared to face all the responsibilities that come with home ownership.

One key factor that many people forget to look at is their current debt situation. Ideally you don't want to have any debt when buying a home. However, most people have some form of debt that they just can't seem to get rid of.

My advice to you it to at least eliminate some or all of your credit card debt before buying a home. This is the worst kind of debt that will really hurt your credit score, and in turn hurt your chances of buying a home.

Also, don't charge any large items within 6 months to 1 year prior to your home purchase. These large credit charges will show up as a red flag to the mortgage companies and may hurt your chances of getting a loan.

If you can't get rid of all your debt, don't worry. Car loans and student loans are types of debt are not as damaging as credit card debts. Focus on reducing your credit card debts as much as you can and you will be on your way to buying your new home.
